American Society of Appraisers (ASA)
The American Society of Appraisers is an organization of appraisal professionals and others interested in the appraisal profession. International in structure, it is self-supporting and independent. The oldest and only major appraisal organization representing all of the disciplines of appraisal specialists, the society originated in 1936 and incorporated in 1952.
American Society of Farm Managers & Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA)
The basic objective of the ASFMRA is to create and maintain a professionally trained group of farm managers, rural appraisers, review appraisers and accredited agricultural consultants capable of providing expert guidance and assistance to farmland owners, farmers, and other groups which have caretaking responsibilities for farm lands and rural properties. These caretakers include banks, insurance companies, attorneys, accountants, etc.
Appraisal Foundation
The Appraisal Foundation, a not-for-profit educational organization dedicated to the advancement of professional valuation, was established by the appraisal profession in the United States in 1987. Since its inception, the Foundation has worked to foster professionalism in appraising by establishing, improving, and promoting the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP); establishing educational and experience qualification criteria for the licensing, certification and recertification of appraisers; disseminating information on USPAP and the Appraiser Qualification Criteria to the appraisal profession, state and federal government agencies, users of appraisal services, related industries and industry groups, and the general public; and, sponsoring appropriate activities relating to standards, qualifications and issues of importance to appraisers and users of appraisal services.
Appraisal Institute - National Chapter (AI)
The Appraisal Institute is an international membership association of professional real estate appraisers and the acknowledged worldwide leader in residential and commercial real estate appraisal education, research, publishing and professional membership designation programs. Its extensive curriculum of courses and specialty seminars provides a well-rounded education in valuation methodology for both the novice and seasoned practitioner.
Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM)
A Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) is a recognized expert in the disciplines of commercial and investment real estate. Certified Commercial Investment Members are in more marketplaces in North America -- 12 CCIM regions representing 1,000 cities -- than all major real estate companies combined. Regions and chapters provide designees and candidates the opportunities to promote business and educational goals through local and regional forums and meetings.
Counselors of Real Estate (CRE)
The Counselors of Real Estate is the membership organization established exclusively for real estate advisors who provide intelligent, unbiased, and trusted advice for a client or employer. The purpose of the organization is to serve as an information resource and to provide its members with opportunities for professional development, knowledge sharing, and networking, all grounded in a culture of camaraderie. Membership in the organization is awarded by invitation only through peer, employer and client review.
Homer Hoyt Institute (HHI)
Land use is critical in determining the level of economic activity of a nation and the quality of life of its people. Our country has been shaped, in large measure, by the land use decisions of the past and will, in turn, be influenced by similar choices in the future. The Homer Hoyt Institute (HHI) is dedicated to improving the quality of decisions about this valuable resource. The Homer Hoyt Institute - an independent, non-profit research and educational foundation established in 1968, has contributed to improving the quality of public and private real estate decisions by expanding and disseminating the real estate body of knowledge; stimulating innovation in the discipline of real estate and land economics; building bridges among academia, industry, and government; and, developing innovative approaches to the solution of real estate problems.
International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO)
IAAO is an educational research member association that provides services to individuals in the ad valorem or property assessment profession and others with an interest in property taxation. The majority of our members are property appraisers and assessment personnel who work for the government; however, membership is open to anyone, including individuals working in industry, academia, and the general public.
International Right of Way Association (IRWA)
Any person who is principally engaged in the acquisition, management, or disposition, of real property or interests therein, in connection with public, quasi-public, or private activities is eligible for membership in this Association. The International Right of Way Association has united the efforts of its members toward individual development, improved service to employers and the public, and advancement in the body of knowledge related to the professional tasks of its members.
Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM)
The Institute of Real Estate Management has been the source for education, resources, information and membership for real estate management professionals for more than 70 years. An affiliate of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS, IREM is the only professional real estate management association serving both the multi-family and commercial real estate sectors. With 82 U.S. chapters, eight international chapters, and several other partnerships around the globe, IREM is an international organization that serves as an advocate on issues affecting the real estate management industry.
National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT)
NAREIT is the representative voice for U.S. REITs and publicly traded real estate companies worldwide. Members are real estate investment trusts (REITs) and other businesses that own, operate and finance income-producing real estate, as well as those firms and individuals who advise, study and service these businesses. NAREIT provides numerous programs, publications and services to its members as well as to nonmembers.
National Association of REALTORS (NAR)
The term REALTOR® is a registered collective membership mark that identifies a real estate professional who is a member of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION of REALTORS® and subscribes to its strict Code of Ethics. Founded in 1908, NAR has grown from its original nucleus of 120, to more than 1 million members today. NAR is composed of REALTORS® who are involved in residential and commercial real estate as brokers, salespeople, property managers, appraisers, counselors and others who are engaged in all aspects of the real estate industry.
National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries (NCREIF)
NCREIF was established to serve the institutional real estate investment community as a non-partisan collector, processor, validator and disseminator of real estate performance information. NCREIF serves this community by assuring that NCREIF data meet the highest quality standards attainable and is published in a timely and efficient manner, serving as a major connecting link between the real estate industry and the real estate research community. Also by bringing the real estate asset class information and disclosure practices closer to those of the other major asset classes.
Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors – RICS – is one of the most respected and high profile global ‘standards and membership’ organizations for professionals involved in land, property, construction and environmental issues. Not only are their members experts in all matters relating to real estate and construction, but they can also offer strategic advice in the economics, valuation, finance, investment and management of all the world’s physical assets. From the construction of major public buildings to surveying the sea bed, from managing large property portfolios to auctioning antiques and much, much more!
Society of Industrial and Office REALTORS® (SIOR)
Real estate professionals who have earned the SIOR designation are recognized by corporate real estate executives, commercial real estate brokers and agents, lenders, and other real estate professionals as the most capable and experienced practitioners in any market. A professional affiliate of the National Association of REALTORS®, SIOR is dedicated to the practice and maintenance of the highest professional and ethical standards. SIOR maintains a commitment to business and industry by providing outstanding professional services, publications, and educational programs.
Urban Land Institute (ULI)
ULI–the Urban Land Institute is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit research and education organization supported by its members. Founded in 1936, the institute now has more than 25,000 members worldwide representing the entire spectrum of land use and real estate development disciplines, working in private enterprise and public service. As the preeminent, multidisciplinary real estate forum, ULI facilitates the open exchange of ideas, information and experience among local, national and international industry leaders and policy makers dedicated to creating better places. The mission of the Urban Land Institute is to provide responsible leadership in the use of land to enhance the total environment.
