Chester County contains a total land area of 760 square miles and according to the 2000 census contained a population of 433,501 persons.  This is a net increase of 55,603 persons (14.7%) from the 1990 census of 377,898 persons.  The United States Census Bureau estimates the population of Chester County in 2004 to be 465,795, which continues the previous decade’s trend.
